BALLETS BY MARK MORRIS

MARK MORRIS IS IN GREAT DEMAND AS A BALLET CHOREOGRAPHER. He has created seven works for the San Francisco Ballet since 1994, including the first American production of Delibes’ Sylvia; three works for American Ballet Theatre including Gong with music by Colin McPhee and Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes with music by Virgil Thomson; and has also received commissions from The Joffrey Ballet and the Boston Ballet, among others.

His work is currently in the repertory of the San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet British Columbia, Boston Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and The Washington Ballet. Morris's ballets have also been performed by English National Ballet, Grand Theatre de Geneve, The Royal Ballet, The Royal New Zealand Ballet and Miami City Ballet.

UPCOMING COMMISSIONS AND PERFORMANCES

  • San Francisco Ballet will tour Joyride, the company's seventh work by Mark Morris, as part of its 2008 American Tour. Performances of Joyride are scheduled for Chicago (September 17, 20 and 21), New York City (October 11, 12 and 16), Costa Mesa (November 12, 14 and 15) and Washington DC (November 25-26). The new dance is set to Son of Chamber Symphony, a newly commissioned score by John Adams.
  • The Washington Ballet will perform Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes at The Kennedy Center, October 22-26, 2008.
  • Pacific Northwest Ballet will premiere A Garden in Seattle, WA, November 5-16, 2008.
  • Ballet West will premiere Gong in Salt Lake City, UT, on February 13, 2009.
  • San Francisco Ballet will perform A Garden, Joyride and Sandpaper Ballet on an All-Morris program as part of their 2009 Repertory Season, March 13-24, 2009.
