New Works Fund Challenge

Mark Morris is undoubtedly in one of the most productive periods of his career. With King Arthur and Mozart Dances in 2006, Italian Concerto and Orfeo ed Euridice and Looky in 2007 and plans for a new Romeo and Juliet in 2008, Morris has cemented his position as the most successful and prolific choreographer working today.

We at the Mark Morris Dance Group are committed to supporting Mark’s artistic vision. Toward that end, we formed The New Works Fund to provide Mark with the resources he needs to create. MMDG relies on this fund to provide Mark with extended rehearsal periods with the dancers, musicians throughout the entire process and access to the industry’s best costume, set and lighting designers.

It is essential that we increase The New Works Fund substantially right now. We have launched a campaign to raise an additional $200,000 in support of The Fund from individuals.

To help us achieve this ambitious goal, MMDG board member Shelby Gans has pledged to match every dollar raised in support of The New Works Fund up to $100,000.
